So, the student is not required to attend a physical classroom or encounter any other persons. Each student will have access to their coursework, via their own online account, and can devise a schedule that works best for them. Each student will have access to a full staff of academic advisors and instructors, so they will also have ongoing support throughout their enrollment, via a messing system that is included with each student account. Where many provided online schools dictate the time and duration of the student’s workday, The Ogburn School understands the need for flexibility. Students should take breaks often, to ensure they are not getting burnt out staring at the computer screen. Other online schools set a schedule that can have the student at the computer for 8 hours a day, while The Ogburn School offers complete flexibility. The student can reach out for coursework help, tips or general updates. The parent can login and view the student’s progress and grades at any time and can also utilize the messaging center or their personal email to contact The Ogburn School at any time. Many online schools can take up to 7 business days to reply to a student or parent, The Ogburn School normally responds with 1 business day. Our goal is to keep the student on track and not lose momentum. When you are ready to enroll your student back into their local school or into any other school, simply let us know. If the account requirements have been met, the transcripts and/or student records will be made available to the new school. There should be no problem with the new school accepting and acknowledging the records, but it is an individual school decision to accept or deny credits and /or student records.As a parent, what are my responsibilities?The Ogburn School has a full staff of advisors and academic instructors, so we do not ask our parents to become teachers or worry about grading or record keeping, we will do that. We do ask that our parents and/or guardians monitor their child’s progress, so we can work together as a team to be sure the kids are staying on track. Also, devising a basic schedule for your child, will keep them in a bit of a routine.
